2024 Top Search Firm for Women of Color

For the third consecutive year, Pearl Street has been named to the list of Top Executive Search Firms that Work for Women of Color by Women of Color in Fundraising & Philanthropy (WOC).

WOC administered a survey to its members and executive search firms with a specialty in and strong emphasis on placements within the nonprofit or social sector, and engaged Shinyoung Park, a doctoral candidate at the Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, to independently compile the ranked list. Fifteen firms were identified as being exceptional in both their approach and their outcomes when working with women of color based on a variety of factors including size, geographic scope, and number of placements. The study has continued to gain interest and application from search firms across the country, making the process increasingly more competitive.

“We’re truly honored that our team has been recognized once again for their tireless commitment to building and supporting diverse nonprofit leadership teams,” said Pearl Street Managing Partner Maeve Clifford. “Our hope is that we can use our spotlight to highlight the critical importance of running inclusive, intentional search processes that go beyond just developing diverse candidate pools. To achieve more representation at the leadership level, search practitioners and hiring organizations need to be thinking more about what it looks like to engage leaders from diverse lived experiences, and to do so in meaningful and authentic ways. It starts with building trust, doing more listening than talking, practicing radical empathy, and doing everything possible to ensure candidates have the information they need to make informed decisions about their careers,” she said.
